Surgery

All surgeries requiring strict sterility such as abdominal or orthopedic surgeries are done in the surgical suite. The suite is maintained in immaculate conditions at all times. Only staff with appropriate attire are allowed to enter this room. All surgical procedures are performed with the patient under appropriate anesthesia. Preanesthesia blood work is routinely done on our patients, especially on all high-risk and geriatric patients. This allows us to evaluate the internal organ functions, such as the kidneys and liver, and for conditions like anemia. We can adjust the anesthetic protocol and drugs to provide safe, effective anesthesia to your pet.

Preoperative instructions for anesthesia:

Rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents - It is not necessary to restrict food or water prior to surgery.
